Meet Reg Shandro

Mediator, Advisor, Aggie

100's of Kitchen Tables, 1 Commitment

Reg Shandro would rather be in the pasture than on the show circuit. He has been happily married for over 25 years—his wife Wanita is a pharmacist, and the inspiration for the name Farmacist. A proud father of 5, he aims to optimize the health of family and farm, bringing practical remedies to even the most persistent issues.

A U of A Aggie hailing from a century farm established in 1898 near Willingdon, Alberta, Reg has been serving the farming community for nearly 30 years. With his multi-disciplinary background in finance and managing family dynamics, he has a unique combination of business acumen and human understanding. Blending bank experience with straight-forward honesty and a hearty sense of humour, Reg focuses on transformation, not transactions. He is a leader in the field—the only one with his wide-ranging yet specialized skill set.

Recognized by the Canadian Farm Business Management Council as an authority on Succession Planning, Reg feels there is no better way to make a living than helping people. He has been honoured to help countless families navigate multi-faceted issues on and off the farm, while wearing jeans 360+ days a year.

In 2006 Reg became a qualified Mediator and founded Farmacist Advisory and Mediaton Services Inc. Over the years he has developed a proprietary process that gets the job done, increasing family harmony and farm prosperity. He wears three hats in his professional practice. First he is a mediator, remaining neutral in tough, complicated disputes. Second, he is an Expert Advisor—defined as having over 10,000 hours of practice—able to stick his “knows” in with tact to serve his clients. Third, he is a resource, ready to connect you with trusted professionals.

On principle Reg does not lend money or sell life insurance, investments, or other products—a rarity in the business. He is committed to remaining effective and unbiased. The only insurance he sells is the farm continuance that his clients gain through his proven approach. Sitting at your kitchen table, Reg’s method embraces the same qualities as a hand-stitched quilt. Colourful, comforting, made with care and skill to last generations. By easing troubled minds, managing disagreements and opening minds to change, Reg brings much more to your table than knowledge and expertise. He brings a genuine consideration for people, family history and farm futures.

A master storyteller drawing on years of work and travel across the country, Reg knows there’s never a point without a story or a story without a point. He’s taken the road less travelled and that makes all the difference— turning farms into successful businesses and clients into friends.
